Biography

David Questa has the uncanny ability to combine, in just one image, the familiar solid structures which make up our urban landscape with the busy people who live and work in and amongst them. Like a moving image captured in just one frame, they show our transience, passing through these more permanent landscapes.

Beginning his work on location, David developed his work in layers of charcoal and ink, retaining the immediacy of the initial sketch. Having Studied illustration, the importance of drawing from direct observation has remained central to his practice.

Observed from either street-level or from a more elevated perspective, David’s drawings and paintings combine the familiar solid structures which make up our urban landscape with the busy people who live and work in and amongst them. They show us a record of a city that like all cities is constantly evolving.

Originally from York, David still lives in Yorkshire working as an art teacher.

David’s Reputation continues to grow having completed successful exhibitions in London and Melboure, Australia.
